Holly Hunter, an American actor and producer, is renowned for her performances in movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The film Piano won her several awards, among them an Oscar. Her career began as an actor on Broadway and Off Broadway. She is a lover of acting from the time she was in high school. Her debut role in a show in the fifth grade was in Helen Keller. Following a bout of mumps, she went deaf on one side of her ears. This did not stop her ambition to become an actor. When she was a teenager, she studied drama in college before moving to New York City from Pittsburgh in order to achieve her goals. Hunter was able to make her Broadway debut following an unplanned conversation in the company of Beth Henley, a playwright. Together, they wrote for Broadway Crimes of the Heart. When she moved to Los Angeles, she began looking for roles in films. She landed one in the role of an actress playing the leading character Swing Shift. Her work spans over 30 years and she's appeared in many TV movies or series, as well as films. Holly Hunter won a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
